ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY OF

PUERTO RICO, MAYAGÜEZ

The University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez Campus (UPRM) was established on September 1911 as part of the Island's public university institutions. It is the second largest university campus of the University of Puerto Rico system. Divided in four major colleges, UPRM offers 52 bachelor's programs, 28 master's programs and five doctoral programs. It is ranked number 1 in the Caribbean according to Webometrics Ranking of World Universities, and it is among the top 10 U.S. universities in the field of engineering in number of students enrolled.

UPRM MISSION:

1. To provide an excellent service to Puerto Rico and the world: forming educated, capable people to think critically and professionally in the fields of agricultural sciences, engineering, arts, sciences and business administration so that they can contribute to educational development, cultural, social, technological and economic.

 

2. Carry out creative, research and service work that meets the needs of society and disseminates the results of these activities so that they are accessible to all.

 

3. To provide our students with the necessary skills and sensitivity to effectively solve the problems we face and be an example of the values and attitudes that should prevail in a democratic society that values and respects diversity. "
